I'm proud to announce the new stable release of AMIP.

It's has been a long time in beta since 2.52 release, almost 2 years. AMIP 2.53 beta has become 2.60 release. I'd like to thank you for all the bug reports and feature requests.

So, what's new? Well, it depends on the version you are used. If you were using 2.53 betas, then there is probably not much new in this release. If you were staying on 2.52, the amount of changes is huge, please see the changelog.

Release highlights:
  • Yahoo integration
  • MSN integration
  • Google Talk integration
  • AIM integration
  • Skype support
  • Sockets based transport for mIRC
  • SDK for C/C++, Java and Delphi
  • Lots of bugfixes, new functions and features
  • New AMIP Configurator to easily tune all AMIP settings
Site has been updated to the latest version of the Dokuwiki engine and Arctic Template, help section is in sync with the 2.60 release.

I've also updated jIRCii integration, it should be more stable now and work without any additional configuration.

SDK has a couple minor fixes since the latest beta.

Now, once we all can enjoy a new version, it's time to start the development of the next major AMIP version.

My plans for AMIP 3.0 include:
  • Windows Media Player support
  • JetAudio support
  • Unicode support
  • Migrating to the new tagging library
  • Better scripting support
  • COM automation server
  • Embedded cURL for the improved web integration
I'm also planning a couple of other AMIP related projects, such as open music stats server for your community and AMIP Web Control.

Stay tuned!

API of this player is quite complex, it requires XUL knowledge and also a bridge between native API and XUL API to provide AMIP support. I don't feel quite ready spending much time for this at the moment.

Just wondering if you got around to adding Songbird or were planning on it in the future. Thanks.
