Okay, I've been having this issue for a while. I'm going to outline as much information as I know of, but I'm completely stuck as to what the issue is.

I'm using AMIP, with the Java Configurator. It is linked up to my foobar2000 v0.9 player (which is modified in appearance only with minimal plug-ins), with external display on MSN Live Messenger and mIRC v6.16.

The command line I'm using to announce with is the following:
//describe $active np: %name [%pm:%ps/%min:%sec] [%br~kbps]

For IRC. I'm not sure what it is for MSN, but I've never changed it from the default for MSN integration.

The issue I'm having only happens with /some/ songs. For some it will show up as the following:
(11:10:18) * @Allyn np: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - The Dead Flag Blues [f#a#oo] [00:00/16:28] [201kbps]

Which is exactly as it should. For others, it shows up as:
(11:09:35) * @Allyn np: Modest Mouse - Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes [The Moon And Antarctica [Expan] [00:42/03:41] [320kbps]

The album tag has been cut off at the id3v1 length, in full it would say "[The Moon And Antarctica [Expanded And Remastered Edition]]".

And with others it says:
(11:11:30) * @Allyn np: 01-Dramamine [] [00:04/05:42] [320kbps]

Which has screwed up the $name and $4 variables for, as far as I can tell, no reason. For this last track, this happens when it has both id3v1 and id3v2 tags enabled, when it only has the id3v1 tag enabled or when it has the id3v2 tag enabled. (And yes, the tags for all of the files I have shown are 100% accurate.)

For the 2nd track (Modest Mouse - Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes), if I disable the id3v1 tag, it breaks the display and displays:
(11:14:57) * @Allyn np: 05 Tiny Cities Made of Ashes [] [00:00/03:41] [320kbps]
With the id3v2 tag disabled, it shows as it did originally.

I'm completely at a loss as to what the problem is. There seems to be no pattern to what breaks it, it is just *some* files. Only files in the same folder (and thus, album) are affected by this. Some will be fine depending on which tags are enabled, and some are just completely broken despite being tagged perfectly and displaying that perfectly in Foobar.

Any help?

Cheers.

It has been discussed here already. AMIP can't read id3v2 v2.4 Unicode tags written by foobar. Search for "Unicode" to find more.
