For quite a while now, the AMIP plugin has made QMP freeze on startup. There's a few others reporting the same problem on this page. I was hoping this would be fixed with the latest release of the plugin, but alas, no such luck. sad.gif

Serge: Thank you for the info in the FAQ! I had this problem with winamp. When having AMIP installed and enabled. Winamp crashed immediately at start. When changing from DDE to File Mapping it works fine. But the thing is I have never had this problem before. Why?

Any backdraws using File Mapping instead of DDE?

Because you didn't have some application that hangs DDE exchange before. Read the FAQ and MS KB article again.

Ok. Is Catalyst Control Center one of them? No other application that come up in my mind that I did not have before.

Have the default value been DDE in all old versions too?

Can I ask why you set the DDE default instead of the File Mapping? Just curious since there seem to be a lot of people getting these crashes.

Thank you for a great application/plugin anyway!

I have no idea which applications can cause it.

DDE is default in all versions, probably I'll disable it in the future releases.

And set File Mapping to default?

Thank you for your very quick answers!

Yes, alternatively one can use ac-mirc.zip from beta downloads page, it's the new interface based on the sockets transport.

Ok.

But changing to File Mapping seem to solve the problem for now! smile.gif

Thanks.

FileMapping works only one way, from AMIP to mIRC, if you use /dde aliases in mIRC, still DDE will be used to send commands from mIRC to AMIP. For bidirectional safe communication it's recommended to use ac-mirc.

I see! But I only use AMIP to manually show (with hotkeys) which song I am playing in Winamp so it is not necessary. smile.gif
