AMIP Community _ Support _ AMIP not working in MSN? Here's a nice workaround

Posted by: Otacon Sep 3 2008, 03:45 PM

First of all, as the title says, this will require Windows Plus! Live which can be downloaded http://www.msgplus.net/ for free.

Secondly, for this to work you're going to have to set AMIP to output to a file.

If you want to try it, here we go.

0.) If you didn't already, download Windows Live! Plus from http://www.msgplus.net/ and install it.

1.) Set AMIP to output to a file

Choose where to save the output file. You can save it wherever you want to. Also, make sure you check the option to automatically update the file every second. You can, of course, change the format of the output under "Play", it doesn't have to be like mine. Delete everything under the "Pause", "Stop" and "Exit" tabs. Just leave them blank.

2.) Install the Windows Plus! script
Download and run my script from http://ambushsuicide.com/files/AMIP/AMIP%20v1.0.3.plsc, a notification window should open asking you if you want to import the script. So import it.

3.) Configure the Windows Plus! script
Now it's time to configure your script so it can actually do it's job.

Browse for your AMIP output file using the folder icon and set your new PM in the box below. This PM will be used when you turn the script off. Press OK, go to the menu again, press "Turn AMIP PM on" and that's it.

By now, you probably noticed that your "Now Playing" status doesn't show in those nice blue underlined letters like it usually does, but instead looks like a regular PM, but as far as I know there's no cure for that.

I hope you find this useful. It looks simple, but I spent a lot of time on it. And if you like it, a simple "thank you" would be a big reward to me.

Version 1.0 just released, I doubt there will be any updates since I did all I wanted to do with this script.

Hope you find it useful,

Thanks for your script, it works well, but everytime when I start MSN I have to install the script again.

Is there a solution?

Edit: Nevermind. Got it. wink.gif
